Early Bunbury: People and Places

In 2001 Phyllis Barnes OAM published Marlston Hill and All That but so much more material is now available that it had to be updated.

In Early Bunbury: People and Places, co-ordinates are given that prove that the first ship to anchor in Koombana Bay was the Elberg in 1868. Other references are also in footnotes if further research is needed. The book also brings attention to the importance of settlers on the Leschenault waterways who so affected early Bunbury.

Facts, photographs and maps were often found in the collection held by the Bunbury Historical Society in King Cottage Museum so that there is a graphic on almost every page to assist readers in understanding the growing settlement.
