Harry Legg visited Harvey in 1946 after an absence of 46 years. He recalled the names of most of the Harvey settlers in 1896 which was the beginning of fruit growing on the Korijekup Estate.

Holidaying in Harvey after an absence of 46 years is Mr. H. Legg of Victoria. Now 76 Mr. Legg is still hale and hearty. He is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Len Roesner of Third Street.  Mrs. Roesner is the daughter of old friends of Mr. Legg, the late Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Charman. Mr. Legg flew over from Victoria in the Skymaster.

Mr. Legg came to Harvey in 1896 and took up a block of land on the old Korejekup Estate, on the corner of Third Street and the Avenue, opposite to a block then owned by the late Mr. and Mrs. Charman, and now owned by Mr. W. R. Eckersley. Mr Legg forfeited his block, which was purchased by the late Mr. E. J. Handley. Mr. Legg remembers the old Korejekup Estate as a forest of big trees and blackboys, which had been surveyed into 10-acre blocks. He recalled most of the old Harvey settlers of 1896, including Messrs G. P. Charman, I. Lowe (father of Mr. J Lowe present chairman of the Harvey Road Board, who was then a little boy), O. C. Rath, Brown, Mc-Kenzie, Jenkins, Docton, Sharp, Hayler, Fentiman and W. Bede Christie, the founder of the first settlement scheme. After relinquishing his block in Third Street, Mr. Legg worked for two years on the local railway fettling gang and then returned to Victoria to live. A life-long abstainer, Mr. Legg is a foundation member of the Harvey Church of Christ, the only other living member being Mrs. E. Sharp. During his stay in Harvey Mr. Legg expressed amazement at the progress made. (Harvey-Waroona Mail 5 July 1946, p. 1.)
